Katherine Coriale, of Brockport, is spending the fall 2000 semester studying in Florence, Italy through Syracuse University's Division of International Programs Abroad. Coriale is a junior majoring in finance.


Joe Ford, of Holley, recently received Lakeside Beikirch Care Center's Quality Recognition Award.

Ford, a Certified Nursing Assistant, was recognized for his organizational skills, cheerful attitude and quality resident care.

Staff members commended Ford for "always being cheerful and willing to help out with anything." The Quality Recognition award was begun early in the year to recognize employees who are doing an outstanding job, Quality Improvement Coordinator Karen Burr said. Criteria for the award include excelling in one or more of the following areas: commitment, action, respect, excellence or service.


Kevin Mott, of Hamlin, has received a Certified Community Action Professional (CCAP) designation from the National Association of Community Action Agencies (NACAA). The CCAP program is a peer recognition certification for senior-level Community Action Agency (CAA) staff members.

Mott is the finance director at Action for a Better Community, Inc. in Rochester, where he oversees the agency's financial operations, information services, and purchasing. He has been with the agency for six years.


Beth Preston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas K. Preston, was a member of Furman University's mock trial team that recently placed first in a national competition. Preston is a senior political science major and co-captain of the mock trial team.


St. John Fisher College outside hitter Nikki Cordaro (Hilton) recently completed her freshman season with the Cardinals.

Fisher finished the season fourth in the Empire Eight conference with an overall record of 17-19 and advanced to the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Championship for the 24th consecutive year.

Cordaro finished the season among the team leaders with 140 kills, 91 digs and 21 blocks in 83 games played.


Ken Flansburg has joined RIT Corporate Education and Training (CET) as an education and training specialist. CET is a unit of Rochester Institute of Technology's Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies. Flansburg, who has 17 years of experience in the printing industry, will work with customers to develop education and training solutions that support their strategic business objectives.

Before joining CET, he was a marketing and sales representative for Syracuse Label Inc. in Liverpool. Prior to that, he held the positions of regional sales manager and order and production support manager at Empire Label Inc. in Elmira. Earlier in his career, Flansburg worked for a number of firms in the Rochester area. In addition, he owned and operated his own company, Kenex Communications, a graphic design and specialty marketing firm, where he directed sales activities and supervised production workflow.

A resident of Brockport, Flansburg is married and has two children. He volunteers as a Cub Scout den leader.


Robert J. Baker has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Advanced Camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington. After successfully completing advanced camp, and graduating from college, the cadet will be commissioned as a second lieutenant to serve in the U.S. Army, National Guard or Reserve. He is the son of Darlene S. and Micheal Giardina of Hilton and a 1997 graduate of Hilton High School, currently attending Clarkson University, Potsdam.


Army National Guard Pvt. Tiffani A. Ross has graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri. She is the daughter of Gloria Garretson and a 1999 graduate of Gates-Chili High School.


Lawrence P. Guszkowski IV has graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Advanced Camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington. After successfully completing advanced camp, and graduating from college, the cadet will be commissioned as a second lieutenant to serve in the U.S. Army, National Guard, or Reserve. He is the son of Lawrence P. and Juana M. Guszkowski. A graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, Guszkowski is currently attending Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont.
