One candidate, Linda Morey, seeks election to a five-year term as commissioner of the Morton Fire District. There is only one vacancy.

The newly formed Citizens Committee, initiated in April, endorsed Morey as a candidate for this position. Committee members say their goal is to open the doors and allow public participation and sharing of information with the taxpayers of the district.

The Citizens Committee has published a newsletter, included as an insert with Hamlin-Clarkson Herald newspapers delivered in the Morton Fire District this weekend.

The election is Tuesday, December 12, between 6 and 9 p.m. at the Morton Fire Hall.
