Meetings on Pre-K andfull-day kindergarten
planned in Hilton district
The Hilton School District has convened two committees studying the current research and feasibility of establishing either or both universal pre-kindergarten and full-day kindergarten sometime in the future. Both committees have scheduled public meetings at which parents and the community are invited to offer their comments and suggestions.
The Universal Pre-Kindergarten Committee has scheduled a public hearing on Wednesday, November 29, 7:30 p.m. in the Quest School/West Avenue Building's Board Meeting Room. Committee Chair Dr. Dan Talany, Principal of the Village Elementary School, will discuss preliminary results of the community survey on the universal pre-kindergarten question.
The Full-Day Kindergarten Committee has scheduled two meetings at which the public is encouraged to attend: Tuesday, November 28 at 7 p.m. in the Northwood Elementary School Library, 433 North Greece Road and Thursday, November 30, at 7 p.m. in the Village Elementary School Auditeria, 100 School Lane, Hilton. Committee co-chairs are Northwood Principal Christine Mc-Caffery and Village School Assistant Principal Diane Wolcott.
The findings of both committees are expected to be complete after January 1 and will be presented to Hilton Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Cooper and the Hilton Board of Education and the district's Long-Range Planning Committee. For further information on the Pre-K Committee, Dr. Talany may be reached at 392-1000 ext. 5197 and the Full-Day Kindergarten Committee: Principal McCaffery at 392-1000 ext. 4526.
