The Monroe County Water Authority will raise water rates in the Town of Sweden on January 1, the second raise in the two years since the authority took over the former Brockport water system. Last year, the Town of Sweden, which provides the distribution of the water, did not pass on the rate increase to consumers. This year, Sweden will pass the eight cents per thousand gallon increase on plus an additional seven cents per thousand gallons to cover last year's increase. The new water rate will be $2.65 per thousand gallons and $19.88 per thousand cubic feet beginning January 1.

In other business from the November 28 Sweden Town Board meeting: The board is seeking applicants to fill two seats - one on the board of assessment review and the other on the environmental conservation board.

The town's first comprehensive plan update meeting was held on November 30.
