Brockport's Joan Schockow
named Northeast Coach of the Year
SUNY College at Brockport women's soccer coach Joan Schockow, who led her team to the semifinals of both the SUNYAC and ECAC Upstate New York tournaments, has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas New York/Northeast Coach of the Year for 2000.
Schockow, who just completed her 12th season at Brockport and now has a career record of 123-93-18, won the award for the first time.
Over the past four years, Brockport has been to eight post-season tournaments (SUNYAC, ECAC, and NYSWCAA). This year's team was 11-6-3 and finished tied for third in the SUNYAC regular-season standings with a 7-2-1 record.
Lisa Cirrincione, (Rochester/Brockport), who also was named All-State in 1999 and 1998, led Brockport in scoring with eight goals and five assists for 21 points and finished her career with 71 points, fourth-best all-time at Brockport was named to the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association All-State Team. She was a four-time All-SUNYAC pick.
