C-C Leo Club actively supports charities
The Churchville-Chili Junior High Leo Club has started its fourth year of activities and community service. The club started the new school year by assisting the Churchville Lions at the Fairbanks Road school welcoming picnic. Fifteen members assisted at the annual dinner dance for the Batavia School For The Blind students hosted by the Spencerport Lions Club at the Plantation Party House. The group has also continued monthly trips to Matthew's Closet clothing outreach at Corpus Christi Church.
The club is planning to travel to the Batavia School For The Blind's annual Christmas Party and help prepare dinner at St. Joseph's House of Hospitality this month. On a continual basis the club collects pop can tabs, Campbell soup labels, and General Mills cereal box labels which can all be recycled for charitable purposes. They send used greeting cards to a children's ranch in Nevada where they are recycled. The club is also helping sponsor the Richard Reisig Memorial Read-A-Thon in memory of a classmate who was killed in an accident just before school reopened this fall.
The club has elected Kieran Redmond as president; Erin Finton as vice-president and Diana Rapp as secretary for this school year. The club meets in room 123 at the junior high at 2:05 p.m. on Mondays. New members are always welcome. The club advisors are teachers Joanne Votsis and Damon Kuhwati, and Churchville Lion Martin Molinari.
