Brockport congratulates new fire chiefs
On December 28, Brockport's new fire chief will be Greg Wing who replaces John Alexander after three years in the top spot. The new deputy fire chief will be Christian McCullough and the new assistant chief will be Mike Warren. At the December 18 village board meeting, Brockport trustees thanked Alexander for his years of service to the community.
In other business: Attorney Roy Heise reported that the Hamlin Fire Department will be contracting for dispatch service for one year at a cost of $3,000. The initial trial period of Brockport-provided dispatch service in Hamlin concludes this month. Both parties have been pleased with the arrangement, Heise said.
The engineering plans for the Main Street revitalization project to be undertaken next year are on display at the village hall for residents who would like to look at the plans. The brick sidewalks will be continued from State/Erie Streets south to Holley Street. The project will also include new curbs, gratings and lights.
Mayor Mary Ann Thorpe called on the board to make a decision soon about whether to pursue forming a municipal electric and gas utility.
Margie Blackman of Park Avenue was appointed to the historic preservation board to replace Edwin Hall whose resignation was accepted with regret.
