'Bud' and Sylvia Hendershot, of Hilton, are the honorary co-chairs of the Lakeside "Building for the Next Generation" Capital Campaign. At the kickoff of the campaign, Hendershot told the audience about his experience at Lakeside as a patient, "You don't feel like you are on a patient assembly line. You aren't the stroke in room 300." He said he was so impressed with Lakeside's "Quality Care Close to Home" that he took out an ad in the Suburban News and Hamlin Clarkson Herald to thank them. The last line in the ad said, "I want everyone to know that if I am ever ill again, take me to Lakeside!"

To attract new physicians and patients, Lakeside plans to renovate the Obstetrics Department. To meet growing demands, Lakeside plans to expand the Out-patient Surgery Department and to insure that dollars are available to build an endowment fund for expensive medical equipment. Overall, the campaign will need to raise $3 million to accomplish these goals and has already raised over $1.5 million for this project.
