The classic folktale Stone Soup came to life as BOCES 2 students in Christine Painter's special education class performed the musical on December 15. Spencerport Music Teacher Anne Murphy began working with the students in September preparing for the play. The students made the props and scenery. The cast of characters included Mary Beckler (Captain Mary), Sean Brisbane, Jeff Morley and Adam Szczesny (soldiers), Michelle Longuillo (Miss Laura), Ellen Ashberry, Becky Vos, Brian Tubbs-Sullivan (villagers) and Cindy Coia, Korin Deidrick, Kathleen Ellis, and Andrea Lauricella (Spencerport High School students who also had roles in the play). Michelle Longuillo and Mary Beckler sang solos. After the play, staff served up their own version of "stone soup" to the audience. (Only this version was with vegetables instead of stones.) |
