Cadets topple Eastridge
The Hilton Cadets girls varsity volleyball team overcame a 14-8 deficit in Game One and went on to a 16-14, 15-7, 15-6 sweep of Eastridge December 21 at home.
In the first game comeback, sophomore Tiffany Maier served the final five points of the game including an ace for the game-winning point. After falling behind 5-3 in Game Two, the defense allowed just two points the rest of the game while sophomores Laura Mikels and Cori Mosher contributed four aces. Game Three became a runaway at 5-4 when Hilton ran off seven consecutive points.
Sophomore Jen Whigham led the way offensively with 5 kills, Mosher led the team defensively with seven digs, junior Dana Satterlee had five aces and Mikels added seven assists in the match. "We need to find a way to come out stronger," said head coach Tara Merino after the match. "We're a young team and I'm proud of the way we're playing, but we can't keep falling behind early."
The Cadets next play Churchville-Chili at home January 4 at 6:15 p.m.
