Ghost Ships make appearance at Seymour Library
A follow up to the presentation of "The Ghost Ships of Lake Ontario" by Jim Fischer will be held Thursday, January 18 at 7 p.m. at the Seymour Library. Fischer will show 80 underwater slides of the Hamilton and the Scourge as they lay under 300 feet of water in Lake Ontario.
These pictures are the first time any one has seen the two 1812 war ships since they slipped below the waters on the night of August 18, 1813. These scenes were first recorded by Jacques Cousteau's mini sub "SOUCOUPE" piloted by Albert Falco. These ships are perfectly preserved by the icy waters of Lake Ontario. Also hear of the plans of exploration and possible recovery of the only ships ever found intact from this era anywhere in the world.
The slide presentation will be at the Seymour Library on Thursday, January 18 at 7 p.m. Registration required. Registration begins immediately for Brockport/Clarkson/Sweden residents. All others can register beginning Saturday, January 13.
