Local congregation begins 50-Day Spiritual Adventure
The members of Spencerport Wesleyan Church are planning to "see the unseen Christ" for eight weeks - to explore how awareness of Jesus' presence transforms the way people live. They'll be working together on a 50-Day Spiritual Adventure called "Seeing the Unseen Christ: How His Presence Transforms Life."
The 50 Day Spiritual Adventure will take place from Sunday, January 14 through Sunday, March 4. Participants will work daily through Adventure journals, studying Scriptures and applying lessons through "action steps." Spencerport Wesleyan Church joins thousands of congregations across North America who will be working on this same topic.
The Adventure is an annual all-church spiritual growth series that is dedicated to helping pastors help people grow. Over 400,000 Christians world-wide are expected to participate.
During the upcoming Adventure, participants will be looking at eight ways lives are transformed when Christ's presence is made real, so that we will: worship Him with genuine enthusiasm, lavish His love on others, embrace righteousness and renounce evil, serve Him with gratitude and eagerness, surrender to the truth of God's Word, experience the privilege of authentic prayer, delight in introducing Him to others and celebrate God's gift of life at its best.
In addition to hearing weekly sermons on these themes, adults, teens and children at Spencerport Wesleyan Church will be journaling daily. Assignments called "action steps" help apply scriptural truths in practical ways. Some action steps are: creating lighthouses of prayer in local neighborhoods, loving and serving others, and reversing self-destructive patterns. "I'm delighted Spencerport Wesleyan can be a part of this exciting series," says Rev. Les McClelland. "In today's world, it's easy to overlook intangibles like Christ's living presence and how knowing Him transforms our lives. As representatives of God's family here in Spencerport, we want to make His presence known and show how that leads to the best life possible."
Anyone who would like to see what the Adventure is all about is invited to visit Spencerport Wesleyan Church, 2653 Nichols Street, Spencerport, or call 352-3398 for information. Weekly workshop services are held on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
