For over 22 years, Joyce Lemon has been an active member of the Hilton Fire Department. She joined in 1978 when, she says, the department was going through some tough times, with their female membership. She says she decided to stick with it because she wanted to help her community. Lemon held the position of Lieutenant of the Ambulance Corps from 1982-1984 and was captain for one year as well. She also was the secretary of the Ambulance in 1981, when the Ambulance Corps had their own separate meetings aside from the fire department.

Lemon, better known as "Grandma" around the Fire Hall, says she continues to volunteer with the department because she loves the family environment and also because she still loves to be able to help her community. She has been an Emergency Medical Technician for 22 years and became a life member of the department in 1998. She continues to be one of Hilton's most active members, says Assistant Fire Chief Mark Kalen.

Lemon is a Parma resident and has been married to her husband, Bill, for 49 years. She has two children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
