Blue Devils skaters trounce Batavia
Jimmy Baker and Brian Abrams each had three-point games and freshman Jarrod Minor scored his first high school goal as the Brockport Blue Devils ran over Batavia 8-2 January 3 at SUNY Brockport.
Fourteen different players had points in the game and Brockport scored five goals in the first period before Batavia was able to get on the scoreboard. Colby Jones, Baker, Craig Willis, Minor and Chad Hage scored in the first period. Abrams in the second period made it 6-1 before Baker scored again and Casey Balog in the third period completed the scoring. Minor's first goal came on an assist from fellow freshman and linemate Jason Hage.
"We just were very aggressive on the puck all game long," said head coach Scott Empey after the game. "We gave up a few goals, but I was very happy with the way we went after them tonight."
Abrams was first and Baker tied for second among the leaders in the White Division scoring race pacing the Blue Devils as the second best offensive team in the league, averaging over six goals per game.
The Blue Devils have a big week with three divisional games - January 17 versus Penfield, on January 18 against Spencerport and January 20 against Churchville-Chili.
