Spencerport's new superintendent begins January 29
When Phillip Langton begins his new job as Spencerport's superintendent, the first thing he plans to do is listen. Langton is gathering names and setting up appointments with district staff and people in the community. He will spend the first few weeks on the job discussing the district's strengths, its most pressing needs, and the important issues facing Spencerport's schools. He will also visit schools and ride a couple of school bus runs.
"I want to know the people who are part of this organization and community," Langton says. "I want them to know me and to know that I will listen to what they say."
The Board of Education will also hold a reception for Langton the night of the February 13 board meeting. The reception, open to the public, will take place in the board room at the Administration Building, 71 Lyell Avenue, from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
Langton's first day on the job is Monday, January 29, the beginning of the second semester. To allow Langton the time to meet with the district's stakeholders, Dr. Josephine Kehoe, interim superintendent, will continue until February 15.
