Free income tax preparation available
for seniors for 2000 returns
Tax-Aide, a free Income Tax Counseling Service for older persons sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, under their Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program, will be offered in Chili.
Volunteer counselors, trained by the Internal Revenue Service, will also assist older persons with New York State returns - in addition to their Federal returns.
This program has been offered, in Chili, for the last fourteen years and during that time over 6,000 tax returns have been prepared, free of charge, for senior citizens.
Starting February 1, this service will be available on an appointment only schedule at Chili Town Hall, on Thursday and Friday mornings. All records of income and expense for 2000 and a copy of the 1999 tax returns are needed for the preparation.
Call the Chili Town Hall, 889-3550, for an appointment to get help in preparing your 2000 Income Tax Returns.
