Laura E. Young, daughter of Ron and Mary Young of Spencerport, has been named to the dean's list at the University of Notre Dame for outstanding scholarship during the fall semester. Young, a 1999 graduate of Our Lady of Mercy High School, is a sophomore in the University's College of Arts and Letters majoring in psychology.

Jeremy Brongo has been named to the dean's list at SUNY Plattsburgh for the 2000 fall semester. Jeremy, a 1999 graduate of Spencerport High School, is majoring in business management.

Former Hilton Cadet basketball and baseball standout (Class of '96) Kevin Whelehan has been named assistant baseball coach at State University of New York at Brockport. Whelehan was a four year letter winner at SUNY Brockport, as an infielder. He was co-captain his junior and senior year, while leading the Golden Eagles to two ECAC tournament appearances, a SUNYAC Championship series runner-up and part of Head Coach Mark Rowlands assault on team records for most wins in the season, with two, 20 plus win seasons in his first four years at the helm of Brockport State.

Whelehan was twice named to the All-SUNYAC Scholar-Athlete team for Baseball and received the Susan E. Wexler Memorial Leadership Award from the Brockport Athletic Department for the 1999-2000 academic year.

Shannon Stoll, Wells College Class of 2002, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Stoll of Hilton, has been named to the fall 2000 dean's list at Wells College.

At Wells College, a student must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.5 (out of a possible 4.0) to receive this honor.

The president's and dean's lists represent the academic top 22 percent of the Oswego student body. Students who achieve grade averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale are named to the president's list, the top 5 percent of Oswego students. To be included on the dean's list, students must have a semester grade average of 3.30 to 3.79.

Michelle Ley was named to the dean's list at Syracuse University for the fall 2000 semester.

Ley, a sophomore in the Newhouse School of Public Communications, is a 1999 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School and the daughter of Harold and Peggy Ley of Ogden.

Casey-Marie Olsen, of Brockport, has been named to the fall 2000 dean's list at Daemen College.

Jacquelyn Butler, of Bergen, has been named to the fall 2000 dean's list at Daemen College.

Marine Corps Pfc. Jason J. Sweeney, son of Jim and Fran Sweeney of Kendall, graduated from basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina. After basic training, Sweeney attended MCT training at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He is now stationed at 29 Palms, California for schooling in the field of electronics.

Army Pfc. Justin C. McMillan has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

He is the son of Robert J. and Brenda S. McMillan of Brown School House Road, Holley, and a 1998 graduate of Holley High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Wendy A. Hermes has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and customs and received special training in human relations. She is the daughter of Glenn A. Hermes of Spencerport, and Sally A. Sidney of Georgia.

Betty Nilsson has been awarded the Sales Master Award by the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors. This award was given in recognition of Nilsson's high level of sales production. Nilsson is a full-time professional specializing in residential sales in western Monroe County.

Patrick Hastings has earned the Top Lister of the Month Award at Ogden/Chili Nothnagle for December. Hastings is an associate broker and has been with the company for more than 22 years. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors and is a notary public.
