Humane Society offers reward
Rusty, the dog, is a young lab mix. He was discovered along the road in the Town of Parma by a good Samaritan who contacted animal control to help. Animal Control Officer Art Fritz, Jr. responded to the scene where he found a trail of blood and the injured dog lying in a ditch in the snow. He immediately took the dog for examination at the Apple Country Veterinary Hospital.
Upon examination by veterinarian Dean M. Snyder, the dog was found to be suffering from significant abrasive wounds to all four paws and much of its body - every one of its toenails had been worn away. The dog's injuries were consistent with being dragged behind a moving vehicle while attached to the bumper. After responding well to treatment, the dog was turned over to Lollypop Farm for adoption.
The Humane Society needs help from the community in solving this crime. A reward is offered for information leading to arrest of the individual or individuals who are responsible for the cruelty inflicted upon Rusty. A home has already been found for Rusty, however, he will remain at Lollypop Farm for several days until his injuries further heal.
A photo of Rusty can be viewed on the Humane Society's website www.lollypop.org. Any one recognizing Rusty or with information is encouraged to call the Humane Society Law Enforcement Department at 223-6500.
