RWCCO plays "Masterful Music" for Spring Concert
The Roberts Wesleyan College-Community Orchestra has scheduled its spring concert, Masterful Music for Thursday, March 1 at 8 p.m. in the Roberts Cultural Life Center. The featured music will be Mozart's "Jupiter" symphony, Tchaikovsky's "Capriccio Italien," and Grieg's "Piano Concerto."
The pre-concert lecturer is Mordecai Lipshultz, the evening host of WXXI radio. He will speak about the three master composers featured in the concert. The talk will take place at 7 p.m. in Shewan Recital Hall also in the Roberts Cultural Life Center.
The RWCCO will also be recognizing another music teacher who has contributed to the area's cultural environment. Carol Snook from the Greece Apollo Middle School will be the special honoree for the evening. She has received the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's Music Educator of the Year Award in 1996, the New York State Band Directors Association Award as band director in 1999, and is listed in this year's edition of Who's Who Among America's Teachers. She is directing 160 students in the Select Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band for her school. This is her 33rd year as a teacher and she plans to retire this June.
Tickets are available at the Roberts Box Office (594-6008) for $5. There is no charge for any student. Box Office hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
