New scholarships established
The Culinary Arts Department at Alfred State College's School of Vocational Technology, Wellsville, has announced the inception of several new scholarships, the first of which will be awarded for the first time in fall 2001.
The first, the Culinary Arts Scholarship, will award $500 to incoming students enrolling in the culinary arts or culinary arts-baking, production and management program. In order to be eligible, students must have an 80 or better high school average through the end of their junior year and be in the top 50 percent of their class. Applicants must also send a letter of interest giving details on their commitment to the culinary arts/baking field to the Culinary Arts Department. Multiple scholarships are available.
The second, the Top Hat Scholarship, will award $700 to an incoming student enrolling in the culinary arts or culinary arts-baking, production and management program. To be eligible, students must have an 80 or better average through the end of their junior year and be in the top 50 percent of their class. Interested students should send a letter of interest giving details on their commitment to the culinary arts/baking field to the Culinary Arts Department as well as letters of recommendation from a teacher, an employer, and a peer.
