Brockport names baseball assistant coaches
SUNY College at Brockport has named Mike Ferreri and Kevin Whelehan assistant baseball coaches following their four-year careers as members of the baseball team. Ferreri is a 2000 graduate of SUNY Brockport with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He broke school records in eight different categories, including games played (141) and hits (131). He is also in the top 10 of 16 different categories, such as stolen bases (2nd, 31) and runs scored (2nd, 97). He was named the college's Outstanding Male Scholar Athlete in 2000, as well as Outstanding Male SUNYAC Scholar Athlete.
Whelehan is a 2000 graduate of SUNY Brockport, also with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He is in the top-10 category for times hit by pitch during his career (5th, 6). He was a two-year captain for the Golden Eagles and also received the Sharon Wexler Memorial Leadership Award. A member of SUNY Brockport's Dean's List, Whelehan also teaches classes at the college as a graduate assistant. A graduate of Hilton High School, Whelehan is getting his master's in athletic administration with permanent certification.
Brockport opens its 2001 season in Florida at Fort Meyers against Salve Regina (RI) on Monday, March 12. Its northern season begins on Tuesday, March 27, at Rochester at 3:30 p.m.
