Students raise funds
for quake victims
Sixth-graders in Mary Pittman's social studies class at Brockport A.D. Oliver Middle School recently reached out to help earthquake victims in India by collecting quarters. They collected $525.15, which they sent to India through the American Red Cross. After hearing about the earthquake, they wanted to help. The students made posters, announcements, and decorated cans to get the whole school involved. They exceeded their goal of collecting $300, one quarter from each student, and collected more than just quarters, as evidenced in this photo. Stephanie Cage, a sixth-grader in Mary Pittman's social studies class at the Brockport A.D. Oliver Middle School, counts money that will be going to earthquake victims in India.
