It has been nearly a year since the Ogden Library began offering access to an online book club. Many residents have signed up for the club and now receive a new chapter of a book each day in their e-mail. The service is a product of Chapter A Day, which is a Florida-based business that coordinates book clubs all over the country. After sign-up, readers receive a chapter of a book each day for one week. At the end of the week, they have several options: forget about the book if they didn't like it, borrow a copy from the library, or buy a copy. The library staff has had great reviews from people who have joined the club, many of whom say they now read a wider variety of books because of the titles chosen for the book club.

Chapter A Day has recently begun offering "teaser" selections from books that have not yet been released to the public. The most recent was The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan, which was featured in the book club several weeks before the book was released. The library has received word that Nora Roberts' new book, The Villa will be featured the week of March 5; the book will not be released until March 19.

Other upcoming titles include: Places Left Unfinished at the Time of Creation by John Phillip Santos, Sick Puppy by Carl Hiassen, Deep South by Nevada Barr, and The Practical Dreamer's Handbook by Paul and Sarah Edwards.

To join the club, go to the library website at www.ogdenny.com/Library and click on the "Online Book Club" graphic. Participants need to have an e-mail account to sign up. Call Patty Uttaro at 352-2141 with questions.
