Saints lose in semi-finals
The Churchville-Chili boy's basketball team lost a third quarter lead and a sectional semi-final playoff game to McQuaid 60-50 February 27 at the Blue Cross Arena.
"We fought back after trailing at half-time and led after the third quarter. We just let the game get away from us," said junior Elijah Reid after the game. Reid paced the Saints on 9-18 shooting and 21 points - 14 of those in the first half. McQuaid shot 57 percent from the field and was 4-4 from the foul line in the second half while the Saints were just 1-9 from behind the 3-point line in the second half.
McQuaid's Tyler Relph led all scorers with 25 points and two steals. Churchville-Chili junior Tony Shaw also scored in double figures with 11 points while seniors Prentiss Thompson and Marty McClellen had seven points each.
Seniors suiting up for their last game for the Saints were Ryan Shekell, Chad Becker, Jeremy Gibbs, Thompson and McClellen.
