Spencerport coach is finalist for award
Bill Jacoutot, Spencerport's wrestling coach for the past 20 years, is a finalist for the 2001 National High School Athletic Coaches Association's Coach of the Year award in wrestling. The wrestling Rangers have had great success under Jacoutot's leadership, compiling a 230-22-1 record for a winning percentage of 90 percent. In addition, the Rangers have won 16 divisional titles, 13 sectional championships and two New York state championships. Jacoutot has also coached 31 Section V individual champions and nine New York state individual champions. As a finalist, Jacoutot is being recognized for this work with the youth Spencerport.
"Bill Jacoutot is truly a leader," says John Pelin, Spencerport's athletic director. "He works very hard and cares about each and every one of his students. He truly deserves this honor."
As a finalist, Jacoutot will receive a plaque at the NHSACA's national awards banquet in North Dakota in June. At the banquet, each finalist is recognized individually with a narration of their career. Seventeen coaches, chosen from the finalists, will then be awarded ten-carat ruby rings or pendants.
