AREA

•Brown, Shirley A., (Carpenter), at age 65 on March 13, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Jay Donald Brown; two sons, J. Donald and Michael G. Brown both of Albion; mother-in-law, Doris F. Brown; sisters-in-law, Clar Carpenter of Georgia, Penny Brown of Albion, Sara (Thomas) Phillips of Brockport; six nieces.

A Prayer Service was held March 15 at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., Albion. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph's Church. Interment, Mt. Albion Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Orleans County, American Cancer Society or St. Joseph's Church.


ALBION

•Biggar, Clifton Arthur, at age 70, died March 11, 2001. Survived by daughters, Sharon (David) Pontes of Lakeland, Florida and Shelly (Martin) Skiles of Polk City, Florida; grandchildren, Christopher and Abigail Skiles; step-brothers, Merle and Harold Hazel, both of Albion and step-daughter, Debbie Bourke of Waterport; several cousins. Predeceased by mother Belle Hazel in 2000.

Funeral Services were held with military honors March 15 at the Christopher-Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., Albion. Burial Mt. Albion Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Eagle Harbor Methodist Church.


BROCKPORT

•Connors, Kathleen G., March 8, 2001 at age 79 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Predeceased by her husband of 50 years, E. Jay Connors. Survived by her loving daughter, Maureen (Paul) Fortner of Brockport; her grandchildren, P. Jay Fortner of Chicago and Katie Fortner of Brockport.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Assumption Church, Pompano Beach, Florida on March 12. Friends wishing can make contributions to the Newman Oratory, Brockport or Lakeside Memorial Hospital in her memory.


•Rhodes, Betsy Ruth, March 6, 2001 at age 85 at Lakeside Beikirch Care Center. Predeceased by her brother, Ralph E. Rhodes, Jr. of Ohio and nephew, Thomas Tessina. Survived by her sisters, Edna Tessina of Webster, Vivian (Charles) Roman; sister-in-law, Marilyn Rhodes of Ohio; nieces and nephews. She was a dental hygienist for 46 years with Dr. George Bott and Dr. Harold Craw of Brockport.

Family and friends can attend her Memorial Service Saturday, April 28, 10 a.m. at Fowler Funeral Home Inc., 340 West Avenue, Brockport. Memorials can be made to Lakeside Beikirch Care Center, 170 West Avenue, Brockport 14420.


CHILI

•Mellema, Barbara Jean (List), Sunday, March 11, 2001 at age 48 after a long illness. Survived by her son, Kenneth Jr.; brothers, Daniel (Marnie) List and Thomas (Tracy) List; sister, Kathleen Brunshidle; several nieces, nephews and many dear relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service was held March 13 at the Alvah Halloran & Son Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1400 North Winton Road, Rochester, NY 14609.


CHURCHVILLE

•Goodenough, Edward G., March 12, 2001 at age 49. Supervisor of maintenance with Boss Precision LTD of Spencerport. Husband of Claudia J. Webster Goodenough. Father of Daniel F. (Colleen) and Jillian Goodenough; son of Richard and Lillian Goodenough; brother of Ross, Richard, Michael (Ann), James (Darlene Nier) Goodenough, Deborah (Guy) Grant, Terry (James) Sailor, Judy (David) Michel and Darlene (Jeffrey) Shadler; grandfather of Austin and Jenica Goodenough; uncle of several. Predeceased by his brother-in-law, Terry Webster and his uncle, Leo Norton.

Services were held March 15 at H.E. Turner and Company Funeral Home, Bergen. Memorials can be made to Spencerport Fire Department or American Cancer Society.


•Kucko, William, (Boleslaw), Saturday, March 10, 2001 at age 75. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alfreda Kucko; four daughters, Lucy (John) Williamson of Churchville, Krystyna (William) Scharvogel of Bergen, Barbara (Mark) Borgus of Churchville and Magdalene (Aaron) Horton of Brockport; eight grandchildren and relatives in Poland. He was a retiree of Taylor Instrument Company and was a member of PNA.

A Funeral Mass was said March 13 at St. Vincent DePaul Church, Churchville. Interment St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Parkinson's Disease Center in his memory.


HAMLIN

•Matula, Robert W., Suddenly March 13, 2001 at age 32. He is survived by his mother, Mary Andrews; his father, Thomas Matula; his daughter, Tahnea; his siblings, John Matula, Laurie Matula, Kim Ebert, Lisa Williams (Kurt), Cynthia Lapinski (Ron); four nieces and one nephew; great aunt, Alice Kenyon and his special friends "Buttons."

A Service was held March 16 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home Inc., Hilton. Interment Parma Union Cemetery.


HILTON

•Dyment, Murle R., March 7, 2001 at age 91, widow of C. Roy Dyment. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Doris Dyment of Prince Edward Island and Evelyn Dyment of Nova Scotia; several nieces and nephews; devoted neighbors and friends.

A Funeral Service was held March 10 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Spring interment, Falls Cemetery. Those wishing can make contributions to Hilton Lions Club or Hilton Ambulance in her memory.


SPENCERPORT

•DiLella, Nellie S., (Leonardi), March 9, 2001 at 77 years. She was predeceased September 14, 2000 by her husband, Fred DiLella, a WWII Marine Veteran. She is survived by her son, Rev. Fred T. (Mary) DiLella of Oregon; her daughter, Cynthia M. (Adair) Slane of Retsof; her two brothers, Anthony (Joan) and Richard (Anne Marie) Leonardi; 18 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service was held March 12 at Mumford First Baptist Church. Entombment, White Haven Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends wishing can make contributions to the Homeless Ministry of Mumford First Baptist Church (Dakin at Main Street, Mumford 14511) in her memory.


•Spencer, Lillian B., at age 94, of Melbourne, Florida, died on March 3, 2001 after a brief illness. She and her late husband, Keith A., lived and raised their family in Spencerport, where she taught home economics for several years, was active in the Monroe County 4-H program, the White Church and various community organizations. They moved to Florida in retirement. Mrs. Spencer was an avid naturalist, a talented needleworker, and a voracious reader. Genealogy was a special interest and she traced the Spencer and Bennett families back many generations. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Robert) Herner of Michigan; her son, Richard (Paula) Spencer of Massachusetts; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Ogden Farmers' Library.
