The Hilton Central Schools' Teachers Association is seeking nominations for the 2001-02 teacher of the year. Eligible are all Hilton School District teachers who have taught for at least five years, according to Tom Dowd, Hilton High School chemistry teacher and chair of the selection committee.

"We are inviting parents, teachers, students, community members and administrators to nominate a candidate for the teacher of the year honor," he said. "Nominations should include information about the candidate's professional knowledge exhibited in the subject area taught; the candidate's professional ability to affect a positive learning difference with the students he or she encounters; the candidate's professional ability to work with colleagues and parents; and the candidate's commitment to his or her profession that endures beyond the teaching day."

The award will be presented in September 2001.
