Brockport Postmaster Donna Chichester presented a poster of the new commemorative diabetes stamp to the Daisy Marquis Jones Family Wellness Center on March 16. The diabetes stamp, designed by artist James Steinberg, includes two elements associated with diabetes, research and testing. The design conveys the importance of diabetes awareness and early detection of the disease. The stamp also contains the phrase, "Know More about Diabetes." With this stamp being issued, the United States Postal Service will help support and encourage diabetes education and research. The stamps are currently available for purchase.

The poster will be on public display at Lakeside Memorial Hospital. In conjunction, they will be holding the Diabetes Education series beginning April 18. This five-week series is designed to cover all major aspects of living and treating diabetes. Speakers are Lakeside specialists in diet, exercise, medication, foot and eye complications, as well as general diabetes management. Call 395-6044 to register or for information.
