Josephine Matela, of Adams Street, Brockport, has announced her candidacy for mayor in the village election to be held on June 19. Matela and husband, Joseph, have lived at the Adams Street residence for over 17 years and have four grown children and one grandson. Matela is currently employed at Philip Morris, USA where she is a sales manager in the Greater Rochester Area.

Matela will bring several issues to the forefront of her campaign. She believes that the water board should be eliminated and an economic task force formed. Matela also believes a system of checks and balances is needed to ensure that projected budgets are adhered to. She would like to work more closely with Sweden to reduce costs.
