subject of photography competition
The Monroe County Environmental Management Council (EMC) is sponsoring an Environmental Photography Competition and Show to portray aspects of the county's natural surroundings.
The contest is open to amateurs only and entries are solicited in three categories: Wildlife, Plant Life and Landscape. Wildlife is defined as wild animal portraits, close-ups, action and behavior. Plant Life is close-ups of plants and trees and Landscape is outdoor scenes taken during any season. Competition classes are: Youth 14 and under, Novice (has never placed or won a photo contest) and Advanced.
Best of show will receive $100; first place, $75; and second place, $50. All winning entries and honorable mentions will be exhibited at various locations throughout the county.
For a complete set of rules and an entry form, call 760-7540, weekdays. Entries must be postmarked by August 3, or received at the EMC office by 5 p.m. on August 6. A judging panel will determine the winners and notification will be made on September 12. An awards reception will be held on October 3.
