Churchville resident appointed to
BOCES 2 Board of Education
Linda Burlingame, of Churchville, was appointed to the Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Board of Education at the February 27 meeting to fill the unexpired term of William Vanderhoof, who resigned to pursue other interests.
Vanderhoof was appointed to represent the Churchville-Chili School District on the BOCES Board in December 1995 and won election to the board in April 1996. Burlingame will seek election to the seat on April 24 when the BOCES 2 component school boards vote on the administrative budget and board candidates.
A lifelong resident of Churchville, Burlingame has been a member of the BOCES Special Education Advisory Council for the past six years. "As a licensed New York State Family Care provider, I have 24 years experience with the special education portion of BOCES and have an understanding of the board and some of the areas it deals with," she said. Burlingame has also served on the Commissioner's Board of the New York State Family Care Advisory Board for the past six years and is a deacon at Union Congregational United Church of Christ.
Burlingame is the wife of the late Raymond Burlingame, Jr. She has four grown children and provides a home to three developmentally disabled adults, as well as respite care to developmentally disabled individuals who live at home.
In addition to Burlingame, three incumbents will be seeking re-election to the BOCES Board. They are Daniel Cole, board president, who represents the Holley School District, Richard Gearhart, who represents the Brockport School District, and Janet Stander, board vice president, who represents the Gates Chili School District.
