C-C Board of Ed adopts budget
The Churchville-Chili Board of Education has adopted a proposed budget of $49,009, 605 for the 2001-2002 school year. The tax rate increase is estimated to be 3.88 percent, pending the decisions on education funding in the state budget. In developing the budget, the Board of Education considered input from administrators, faculty, staff and district residents. "This budget supports student learning," says Superintendent Mary Alice Price. "We considered a number of requests and included some in the proposed budget."
The majority of the proposed increase supports contractual agreements, rising health care costs and the increased costs of supplies, materials and texts, according to district officials. Also, additional teachers will support the increased course requirements for high school seniors. Part of the increase is due to the building project and the energy performance contract, most of which will be offset by state aid.
Residents who want more information on the budget can call Assistant Superintendent for Administration Ralph Smith, 293-1800 ext. 2320. In addition, a Candidate Information and Budget Hearing Meeting will be held Tuesday, May 1 at 7 p.m. in the Administrative Board Room in the Administration Building, 139 Fairbanks Road. In addition to the budget presentation, board candidates will give a short presentation on why they want to serve on the school board.
