Stephanie Ball, a senior majoring in nursing at the University of Rochester, has been named to the dean's list for academic achievement for the fall 2000 semester.

Ball, a graduate of Greece Olympia High School in Rochester, is a resident of Spencerport.


Natalie Paige Willison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth R. Willison of Greece, has received a mission call from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She will serve a mission for 18 months in the Houston East, Spanish Speaking Texas Mission. Currently, Sister Willison is preparing to be a missionary at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. At the MTC, she is learning more of the Spanish language, having already had four years of Spanish in high school. Natalie has been there since March 7. She will leave for her mission to Texas on May 8.

Natalie is a 1997 graduate of Hilton High School and graduated from Ricks College, in Rexburg, Idaho in May 2000. Serving a mission for her church has been a lifelong dream. Her older sister, Kristian, recently returned from serving a Spanish Speaking Mission to Long Beach, California.


Amanda Ginovsky of Brockport has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Purchase College State University of New York where she is majoring in psychology.


Jennifer Gavigan of Hilton and a 1999 graduate of Hilton High School will be transferring from Niagara University to SUNY Brockport. She plans to major in nursing. Gavigan is the daughter of Jeffrey and Kathleen Mullen.


Jennifer Lynn Hudack, daughter of Rick and Kathy Hudack of Churchville, will be graduating in May with a bachelor of science degree in psychology and sociology from SUNY Brockport. She is a 1998 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School. Hudack has been a consistent member of the dean's list, is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society and the Psi Chi Honor Society in Psychology.


Jodie Stewart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Stewart of Hamlin, and a candidate for May graduation from Hamilton College, has been awarded a Fulbright Teaching Assistantship to South Korea. She will teach conversational English to middle and high school students.

Stewart is a world politics major at Hamilton. A dean's list student, she studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London during the fall 1999 semester. At Hamilton she was head delegate to the Model European Union, is a member of the International Relations Group, the Hamilton College Young Democrats and is a peer tutor. She is a graduate of Brockport High School.


Mary Ferrigno, of Brockport, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Purchase College State University of New York where she is an undergraduate student in the School of Art and Design.


Emily Liu, 17, of Spencerport High School, is a winner of the Park Scholar Award from Ithaca College. As a Park Scholar, Liu will receive a full scholarship from Ithaca College, which covers the full cost of attendance for four years, as well as a computer allowance. Liu was selected from a nationwide competitive pool of applicants. Requirements were based on high school rank, SAT scores, community service, and recommendation letters.


Anthony Burgio, Public Square, Holley, a local agent for Nationwide Insurance, has qualified for the prestigious Nationwide Life Council to honor the company's top life insurance producers. Burgio was among a select group of 169 of Nationwide's 4,000 agents across the country that earned this honor. He has been a Nationwide agent since 1982. This is the fourth time that Burgio has received this honor.


Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Monroe Community College has inducted 87 of the highest achieving students at the college. The students were honored for their academic success and involvement in college and community activities. Students from the Westside News readership include from Brockport - Alicia Dunn; from Chili - Sandra L. Hilsdorf, Catherine M. Lembo and Bernadette J. Wallace; from Hamlin - Laurie Zavaglia; from Hilton - Carolyn Dudash and Ryan Gibbs; from Holley - Joseph D. Olles; from Ogden - Douglas C. Smith.


During Elmira College's annual Academic Honors and Student Recognition Banquet, held April 6, Natalie Cushman, of Hilton, earned the 2001 Board of Trustees Prize, presented to students whose college experience demonstrates continual growth and development academically, socially, or in service to the college community. Cushman is the daughter of Stephen and Lora Cushman and a 1998 graduate of Hilton Central High School. Cushman majors in biochemistry.


The following student is spending the spring 2001 semester studying in London, England, through Syracuse University's Division of International Programs Abroad: Maureen Carroll, of Spencerport. Carroll is a junior majoring in art photography at Syracuse University's College of Visual and Performing Arts.


Michael S. Stoll, of Bergen, has been named Dean of Math, Science and Career Education at Genesee Community College. Stoll, who has served as a member of the Genesee faculty since 1968, has been serving as Acting Dean of Math, Science and Career Education since former Dean Judy I. Murray left to become Vice President of a Texas college in December.

Stoll has served as Town Supervisor of the Town of Bergen since 1984. He has been a member of the Genesee Association of Municipalities for seventeen years and served as President of the organization for 10 years. He has also been active in the Bergen Business and Civic Association, and was a member of the Steering Committee for Genesee County's Master Planning Process.

As a member of Genesee's faculty, Stoll has taught courses in marketing, management, personnel administration, sales, advertising, and customer service. He has also worked with the college's Center for Workforce Development to help develop training programs for area businesses. Stoll holds A.A.S. and B.S. degrees from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a M.B.A. degree from the University at Albany.


Several local residents will be candidates for baccalaureate degrees at SUNY Oswego's 140th annual commencement, Saturday, May 12. From Bergen - Kristy M. Urban, a finance major, will graduate magna cum laude; from Churchville - Jeff S. Williams, a business administration major; and from Spencerport - Diana R. Carmen, a zoology major; Geoffrey G. Granger, a communication studies major; and Abigail M. Smith, a human development major.


Marine Corps Pfc. Lonny D. Brant, a 1998 graduate of Gates Chili High School, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Brant successfully completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.


Marine Corps Pvt. Adam T. Garcia, son of Patricia L. Heagle of Spencerport, and Isnard I. Garcia of Rochester, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Garcia is a 1999 graduate of East Rochester High School of East Rochester.
