Spencerport High School senior Rebecca Kellerson is the regional recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution's Good Citizens Award given by the Irondequoit chapter of the DAR. She received a $100 savings bond, a certificate of recognition and a DAR Good Citizens pin.

Those competing for the award had to demonstrate the qualities of leadership, dependability, service and patriotism. Students had to answer several questions asking how they tried to manifest the qualities of a good citizen. They also needed two letters of recommendation and they had to write a timed essay while under the supervision of a teacher or DAR member. Kellerson wrote about World War II. She says she was "honored and surprised" to learn she won the award. She plans to study international relations in college.
