Fourth-grader steps into
General Douglas MacArthur's shoes
Fourth-grader Phil Griffee filled some mighty big shoes recently as he portrayed General Douglas MacArthur for Munn Elementary School's wax museum event. Fourth-graders chose a person who made an impact on American history, researched and wrote a paper about their subject, then, as a homework assignment, created a poster and a costume.
Parents, grandparents and classmates were invited to tour the 'wax museum' to see the poster display and the students dressed in costume while portraying the character they studied. Visitors had an opportunity to learn more about history from the 'people' who lived it. Other famous people portrayed by Munn students were Pocahontas, George Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., Theodore Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart, Betsy Ross and Albert Einstein.
