Poppies are in bloom again
From May 17 to May 28, American Legion Auxiliary and American Legion members, in their blue caps, will offer poppies in exchange for a small donation to remember the men and women who made the supreme sacrifice. Funds raised help veterans and their families who are in need.
The little red crepe paper flower, made by hospitalized veterans, was first adopted by the Auxiliary in 1924. It is an emblem of faith, serving a dual purpose, with the donations to help those in need as well as providing them with luncheons, outings, entertainment, and more.
