Suhr to be honored at athletic banquet
The annual Spencerport Central School's year-end Athletic Awards Banquet will be held on Wednesday evening, June 6, in the Cosgrove Middle School.
The highlight of the evening will be the induction of Rick Suhr into the Spencerport Athletic Hall of Fame. Suhr earned all county honors in wrestling for two years, Section V champion for two years and NYS finalist in 1986. He also earned all county honors in Track & Field for three years, Section V champion for one year and ranked #2 in NYS pole vault in 1986. He graduated from SUNY Brockport where he received a bachelor of science degree in physical education. He currently is a teacher at Churchville-Chili Central School District and also runs Suhr Conditioning Systems, a personal training service. He resides in Churchville with his wife and two sons, Kody and Madison. He currently holds the pole vault record of 17' 1/2". He also competes in the masters program.
In addition, awards will be presented for Most Valuable and Most Improved Players, Outstanding Academic Student-Athletes, Most Outstanding Athlete, along with recognition of six career letter winners and three varsity letters earned in one year.
Tickets for the Athletic Banquet ($12) may be purchased at the Spencerport Athletic Office in the Administration Building. All varsity letter winners must exchange their invitations for their tickets at the high school bookstore from May 21 through May 25 only.
