Spencerport Central Schools to conduct annual census
The Spencerport Central School District will conduct its annual census of all children residing within the four towns of the school district during the month of June. The law requires that a census be maintained for children from birth through age eighteen, and through age twenty-one for children with disabilities. Forms will be distributed at the end of May.
In order to conduct the census, an individual census card with family information will be sent to all residents in the following manner: Forms for Spencerport School District students through grade eight will be sent home with the students. Forms for Spencerport School District students in grades nine through twelve will be mailed home. Forms for all students who live in the district but attend non-public schools will be mailed home. Forms for all other residents residing in Spencerport Central Schools will be mailed home.
All district residents are urged to return the census forms (either via their child or by mail) with any necessary corrections or additions, in three days or sooner, after receiving it. Residents are urged to return the forms even if there are no changes and even if there are no children at home. Many functions such as transportation, report cards, and school data depend on an accurate census. Census information also is used to compile mailing labels for district mailings such as the Cornerstone, the district's newsletter. Residents who want more information can call Pat Chapman at 349-5114.
