Bright Raven gymnasts recently competed in a state meet. Bright Raven Gymnastics of Gates played host to the USA Gymnastics Level 6 State Championships May 11-12. Two hundred twenty-seven gymnasts represented 50 teams with Bright Raven taking the fourth place banner scoring 180.875. Many of Bright Raven's team members also earned individual awards.

In the 12 and over age division, Jackie Van DeWater of Churchville took second place in vaulting with a score of 9.375. Jennifer DeLone of Henrietta was eighth on vault with a 9.10. On balance beam, Amanda Westcott of Brockport and Kerry Apeland of Chili tied for seventh place each scoring 9.20. Kerry Apeland also received the seventh place medal in floor exercise with a 9.35. Tera Zwirner of Spencerport was tenth all around with a total score of 35.725.

In the 10-11 age division, Julie Mingoea of Spencerport took third place in vaulting with a 9.50. Larissa Bolalek of Greece was ninth in floor exercise with a 9.35.

Other Bright Raven team members contributing to the team effort included Sara D'Angio of Pittsford, Laura Iafrati of Greece and Jaclyn Miller of Henrietta.
