Kids' stuff at the Wheel Fest
The Town of Hamlin has many abundant resources, not the least of which is an endless supply of energetic children. The members of the Wheel Fest committee have taken this into consideration and have prepared accordingly with plenty of games and attractions.
The schedule for children includes:
Cartoon Sketches 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Birds of Prey Demonstrations 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Fishing Demonstrations 10 a.m., Noon and 2 p.m.
Pie Eating Contest 3:30 p.m.
Clowns 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Saturday (also a Friday night appearance)
There will also be llamas, pony rides, face painting, ceramics, Pixie Stix art, PAWS animal adoption, and tons of competition with prizes galore.
"Our main goal was to make it bigger and better," said Tammy Keyes, committee member. That's been done by adding many attractions for children, some at no charge.
"We've tried to keep things to the minimum cost wise," said Keyes. Many community organizations donate their time and resources and volunteers will run many of the activities.
"Actually, I've recruited my mother and daughter to be clowns and my husband to work in the fishing booth," said Keyes. "It's definitely going to be a family event for me."
