Bright Raven gymnasts compete in Elmira
The Level 4 and 5 teams of Bright Raven Gymnastics traveled to Elmira May 19 to 20 to compete in the Elmira Team Challenge. Both teams made a fine showing, placing third as a team and winning numerous individual honors.
Competing in the Level 5 Youth division, Megan Seuffert of Gates took second place all around scoring 36.475 and also won a medal in every event placing second on beam (9.30), third on the uneven bars (9.50), fifth in floor exercise (9.225) and fifth in vault (8.45). In the Level 5 Junior division Breanna Fischer of Gates took second place in vault (8.475), fourth place in floor exercise (9.00) and fifth on beam (8.775). In the Intermediate division, Amber Kober of Ogden captured first place on the uneven bars (9.15) and also placed third on beam (9.25), fourth in floor exercise (9.20), fourth in vault (8.70) and tied for second place all around with a score of 36.30. Sabrina Hill of Hamlin placed third in vault (8.775), sixth on bars (8.50), and sixth all around with a 34.725. Lindsey Paladino of Chili won two medals placing fifth in vault (8.625) and floor exercise (9.05). Competing in the Level 5 Senior division, Martha Bauer of Chili took fourth all around with a 35.175 and also placed fifth in vault (8.35), third on bars (9.125), and sixth in both beam (8.65) and floor (9.05). Kara Contomanolis of Chili was fifth all around with a 34.85. In the individual events, Kara also took second place in both vault (8.70) and bars (9.20). Michelle Martello of Gates took second place on beam (9.00) and fourth on floor (9.325). Kristen Leh of Chili took fifth on beam (8.775). Amanda Clapper of Spencerport and Maura Donovan of Chili also contributed to the Level 5 team effort.
The Level 4 competition was divided in five divisions by age (Youth, Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Majors) with a Bright Raven gymnast taking first place in floor exercise in every division. In the Youth division, Rachel Eckert of Irondequoit took first place in floor exercise (9.10) and sixth in vault. Katie Kisker of Chili earned sixth place in floor exercise (8.60). In the Junior division, Alyssa Kober of Ogden took first place in floor exercise (9.275) and sixth in vault (8.00). In the Intermediate category, Alyssa Hurlbutt-Mortier of Ogden tied for first place in floor exercise (9.20). Kara Golis of Churchville was sixth on both floor (9.05) and bars (8.875) and fourth on beam (9.30). In the Senior Division, Gina Mattioli of Greece took second place all around with a 35.10 and was first on the uneven bars (9.15), second on beam (9.275), and third on floor (9.075). The first place winner on floor in this division was Maura Wojak of Chili (9.40). Maura was also fourth on beam (9.175), sixth on bars (8.60) and fifth all around 34.70. Emily Gutknecht of Rochester placed fourth all around scoring 34.75 and was also fourth on floor (9.40) and fifth on bars (8.70). Bria Wing of Chili was sixth all around with a 34.25 and took fourth on vault (8.175), fourth on bars (8.70), and fifth on floor (8.875). Sarah Berry of Greece placed third on beam (9.25). In the Masters division, Sherilyn DiRoma of Hilton won floor exercise (9.45) and placed second on bars (8.90), fifth on beam (8.95) and fifth all around totaling 34.075. Erin Kolb of Chili was fourth all around with a 34.125 and took third place on bars (8.80). Danielle Peruzzini of Brockport and Nicole Morone of Churchville tied for fourth on floor both scoring (9.10). Nicole also took a fifth place on vault (8.00). Bethany Ayers of Churchville took sixth in floor exercise (9.00). Other Level 4 Bright Raven gymnasts included Amanda Arcieri of Chili, Cassandra Dean of Churchville, Allison Grove of Chili and Kyle Holly of Chili.
