Rangers lose in semi finals
Spencerport was clinging to a 3-2 lead after five innings in the sectional, semi-final playoff baseball game against the number one ranked team in New York state - McQuaid. Then the wheels fell off.
McQuaid tied the game in the sixth inning on a two-out single and went ahead 4-3 on a bases-loaded wild pitch. They would then add four more runs in the top of the seventh to advance to the finals 8-4.
After both teams scored single runs in the first inning, the Rangers took a 2-1 lead on pitcher Brandon Mendola's double off the center field fence in the fourth inning. After McQuaid tied the score in the top of the fifth, Spencerport regained the lead 3-2 on Rick Pratt's two-out single to center scoring Shannon Brinson from third. The Rangers scored a single run in the seventh on Brinson's leadoff triple and a RBI groundout by Mendola.
Spencerport says good bye to nine seniors: Shannon Brinson, Brandon Mendola, Rick Pratt, Gil Burgmaster, Tom Ernisse, Seth Louden, Dan Miller, Joe Panterelli and Rich Pozzuolo.
