Brockport Creek clean-up plan available
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and the Monroe County Health Department invite residents to a June 20 open house for the former General Electric Black & Decker site.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public with information about the GE/Black and Decker proposals for investigating and preparing designs for cleaning up poly-chlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in the Storm Sewer and Tributary #3 to Brockport Creek, and at the 200 State Street facility. Results from recent sampling will also be available for review.
The open house will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Seymour Public Library, East Avenue.
During the open house, residents can review information about the work plans, results from recent sampling, and additional investigation and clean-up plans for the site. DEC, DOH and Monroe County Department of Health officials will be available to answer questions. There will be no formal presentation during the availability session. Call DEC specialist Linda Vera at 226-5324 for more information.
