Tom Armstrong, a presidential scholar at Rochester Institute of Technology, has been named to the dean's list for the 2000-2001 school year. A 2000 graduate of Spencerport High School, Armstrong is majoring in Industrial Design. In May he was inducted into Phi Kappa Psi, a national fraternity which emphasizes scholarship and philanthropy.


The following undergraduate students have been named to the dean's list for spring semester at Baldwin-Wallace College: Timothy Fisher and Justin Yates.


The following students were named to the spring 2001 dean's list at Clarkson University: Shaina K. Bellis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bellis, of Spencerport; Scott J. Ellsworth, son of Ms. Carol Ellsworth, of Spencerport; Michael R. Goodwin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Goodwin of Hilton; and Ryan D. Rinaldo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Rinaldo of Rochester.


Abbey Perkins, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Perkins of Spencerport, has been named to the dean's list at Hamilton College for the 2001 spring semester. A junior majoring in American Studies at Hamilton, Perkins is a graduate of Churchville-Chili Senior High School.


The following students were graduated during St. Bonaventure University's 141st Commencement Exercises, held May 13: Rebecca Versluys of Spencerport, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Versluys, received a bachelor of science degree in education; Kylie Vaughn, of Spencerport , the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Vaughn, received a bachelor of science degree cum laude in psychology/science; Shannon Moreland, of Spencerport, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael W. Moreland, received a bachelor of science degree magna cum laude in biology; Matthew Battisti, of Rochester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Battisti, received a bachelor of business degree in management sciences.


Jennifer M. Dry has been received into the Nu Chapter Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International. Dry is pursuing her master's degree in education-counseling at SUNY Brockport. She is the daughter of Judd and Jane Dry of Spencerport.


Emily Sarazyn of North Chili, achieved dean's list status for the spring of 2001 at Geneva College by earning a 3.6 grade point average or better. Sarazyn is a junior at Geneva majoring in writing.


Sarah "JJ" Begley, of North Chili, has been named a United States National Award Winner in soccer. Begley, who attends Churchville-Chili Junior High School, was nominated for this national award by Nancy Thorton, her coach. Begley will appear in the United States Achievement Academy Official Yearbook, which is published nationally. She is the daughter of Bob and Gail Begley of North Chili.


Kimberly Tramonto of Hilton, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Nazareth College. Tramonto is majoring in psychology.


Elisabeth Van Scoter and Amy Knight have been named to the dean's list at Grove City College for the spring 2001 semester.

VanScoter is a business management major and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin O. VanScoter of Spencerport.

Knight, a 2000 graduate of Spencerport High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Knight of Spencerport.


Elizabeth C. Preston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas K. Preston of Canal Road, Spencerport, graduated from Furman University in ceremonies June 2.


Katie A. Flow, a senior at Clarkson University where she majors in chemical engineering, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2001 semester. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Flow, Norway Road, Holley.


Kristin J. Pugh, a senior electrical engineering major at Clarkson University, was named a presidential scholar for the spring 2001 semester. To attain the recognition a student must carry at least 14 credit hours and achieve a minimum 3.80 grade point average.

Pugh is a resident of Morton.


Amanda Pelcher, from Brockport, has been named an All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy. The USAA has established the All-American Scholar Award Program to offer deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines. The All-American Scholars must earn a 3.3 or higher grade point average. These are awards few students can ever hope to attain. Pelcher will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook. The Brockport Central School student is the daughter of Richard Pelcher and Michele Spring from Brockport. Her grandparents are Louise Pelcher from Ballston Spa and Marianne Spring from Brockport.


Colleen Fenity, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. Fenity of Maplewood Avenue in Spencerport, has been named to the dean's list at Hamilton College for the 2001 spring semester.

A junior majoring in English at Hamilton, Fenity is a graduate of Ellsworth J. Wilson Senior High School.


This year's Gold Award recipient from the Brockport Service Unit of the Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley is Sarah Frisch (Girl Scout Troop 605). She made and encouraged others to make quilts for babies and toddlers suffering from AIDS/HIV and other health ailments. She delivered 44 quilts to the ABC Quilt Project.

The Gold Award recipient from the Spencerport Service Unit is Kristen Smith (Girl Scout Troop 484). She coordinated a project to enable senior citizens at A Touch of Home to produce Creative Flower Gardens to give to family members.


Jennifer L. Hendrick, daughter of Linda and Robert Hendrick of Spencerport, has received a $9,000 RIT Trustees Scholarship. She is a 1999 Spencerport High School graduate.


Several area residents have been named to the dean's list for the spring 2001 semester at SUNY Oswego. They are:

Rebecca Strachan, daughter of Donna and Scott Strachan, has been named to the spring 2001 dean's list at St. John Fisher College. Strachan, a nursing major, graduated May 12.


Sarah Hogan, of Brockport, a senior majoring in English and textual studies in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University, received the Anthony J. Pietrafesa Prize at the college's awards convocation held May 12. The Anthony J. Pietrafesa Prize is presented annually by the University's English Department to a graduating English major with the highest four-year grade point average in English courses.


Romy Hosford, of Brockport, a senior majoring in art education in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at Syracuse University, was named a Visual and Performing Arts scholar at the college's awards convocation held May 12. A Visual and Performing Arts Scholar is the highest academic honor awarded to undergraduate students. Criteria include scholarships, dedication to the college, and community service. She is the daughter of Jim and Mary Ellen Hosford.


Sherry Andrews of the Hilton Nothnagle Office was "Top Sales Person" for the month of April and May.

She has been serving the Real Estate community for 25 years, both as agent and broker. She has lived in Hilton for 12 years with her husband, Dan.

Andrews is known for her Karaoke and her volunteer efforts for charitable organizations.
