Parma Public Library adds two local authors to collection
The Parma Public Library has added two new authors to its local author collection. A Shot at Redemption by Hilton resident and Quest school teacher Christine Mulcahy, is a mystery featuring the Reverend Jack McHeffey. The Reverend is found shot in his church and awakens with no memory of the incident. The unfolding mystery parallels the Reverend's emotional unfolding where we must face the fact that he is the source of his own pain.
Local resident Milon Townsend has been working with glass in the flame since 1973. Now a master of flameworking, he has developed a score of unique technical approaches that define his personal style. Advanced Flameworking Volume 1 by Milon offers glass enthusiasts a pictorial survey of the craft behind this unique work. A second publication, Making and Marketing Better Work, addresses the issues and concerns raised by artists who, while they have achieved some level of success, are seeking ways to upgrade their work and/or methods of working. Milon has also produced two videos. In "What IS Man?" Milon attempts to entice flameworkers to think of working on a larger scale than they might have thought possible. In his "Flameworking With Teamwork, Technology & Scale," Milon collaborates with other glass artists, sculpting one of his "Body Language" pieces from beginning to completion and giving us a brief glimpse into the setup and process involved in making a large solid flameworked piece. All of these works are available from the Parma Public Library.
