Assistant superintendent appointed at BOCES 2
Dr. Pamela W. Kissel was appointed Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Support at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES. Dr. Kissel is presently principal of Penfield High School. She is expected to begin her new duties at BOCES 2 in mid-August.
The Office for Instructional Support oversees Communication and Technology Services, the Elementary Science Program, and the School Improvement Program at BOCES 2.
A National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow, Dr. Kissel also served as president of the Cayuga County Middle School Principal's Association, president and vice president of the Genesee Valley Reading Association, and vice president of the New York State English Council.
She has a doctorate in English Education and Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration from Syracuse University, a master's degree in reading education from SUNY Geneseo, and a bachelor's degree in English and drama from SUNY Brockport.
Dr. Kissel and her husband, John, an ergonomics consultant, recently purchased a home in the City of Rochester. The couple has two grown children, a son who graduate from Cornell University and lives in Washington, D.C., and a daughter who graduated from SUNY Geneseo and is starting a master's program in counseling at SUNY Oswego this year.
Dr. Kissel grew up in Ogden and graduated from Churchville-Chili High School.
Dr. Kissel replaces Susan Meier at BOCES 2, who is leaving July 1 to take a position with the Greece School District.
