Hamlin Public Library
launches first summer reading program

The Friends of the Hamlin Public Library are sponsoring the library's first summer reading program. Program activities will be held each Wednesday at the library and will run for four weeks beginning July 11 through August 1. Registration begins Monday, July 2 at the library and runs through Wednesday, July 11.

"Reading Renaissance," a program for children entering Kindergarten through second grade this fall, begins July 11 at 10:30 a.m. Weekly themes will be enhanced with a story, an activity and a snack. Space is limited.

Children entering grade 3-5 are invited to play "Bookopoly" by coming in to the library every Wednesday between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to roll the dice. The spaces on the game board determine how many prize coupons are won and what the weekly reading selections are. Registration is also required for "Bookopoly" but not limited. Both programs include weekly drawings and a special bonus at the end.

The program's opening day comes right on the heels of the library's first anniversary celebration. On Tuesday, July 10 at 7 p.m., the public is invited to attend the celebration which includes a short program and refreshments.
