Monroe County Executive Jack Doyle has announced that the county's Miles for Meals Walkathon raised nearly $58,000 for senior nutrition programs in the community. The fundraiser was held June 2, in Highland Park.

The money raised will pay for home-delivered meals, special trips, complimentary meals, equipment, and exercise and wellness programs in the various senior centers.

The first meal programs were established in Monroe County more than 40 years ago to improve the nutritional health of senior citizens who have a need for a hot, well-balanced meal that meets Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) guidelines.
