Brockport Summer Art Festival
offers more art, music and food
The annual Brockport Summer Art Festival has been condensed into two days of endless activity this year. It will be held 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, August 11, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, August 12, along the Main Street in the historic Village of Brockport. Admission is free.
Located along a 10-block area, the Brockport Summer Art Festival is celebrating its seventh year and typically draws more than 60,000 people.
The event continues to grow each year and features hundreds of artists and craftspeople, live music, food and a "duck derby" where festival goers adopt plastic ducks and compete for prizes as the ducks race along the Erie Canal Sunday.
Festival organizers are pleased with the response they've gotten from local and regional artists. While visitors will be able to find their favorite vendors, there are plenty of new artists to choose from this year - adding to the festival's quality, diversity and creativity.
Making a repeat performance is local favorite Julie Dunlap - a Brockport native who returns to her hometown for this occasion. She'll take the stage Saturday night at the Market Street Stage, next to the Brockport Fire Hall.
Free parking and shuttle service will be available at the SUNY Brockport campus. From Rochester, take 490 West to 531 West and follow the signs to Brockport and shuttle parking. Shuttles begin operating each day at 9:30 a.m. and run through 7:30 p.m. Saturday, August 11 and from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, August 12.
The Brockport Summer Art Festival is hosted by the Brockport Integrated Service Clubs Organization (BISCO), a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization whose work benefits Brockport area youth. The event is produced by the Springut Group.
