Hochstein recruiting new youth singers
The Hochstein Youth Singers and the Hochstein Boys' Choir have openings for all voice types for the upcoming 2001-2002 season.
The Youth Singers are looking for young men and women, ages 9-16. Rehearsals will be held on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Hochstein Music School. The Boys' Choir is recruiting young men, ages 9-18; their rehearsals will be held on Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., also at Hochstein. Both groups are directed by Sherryn Malm, Hochstein faculty. Malm, a guest choral conductor at various All-County Festivals, has taught in the Lockport and Fairport public schools for more than thirty years.
The groups perform in Rochester area churches, schools, conferences and a wide variety of other venues. Recent appearances include the National Orff Convention, Casa Larga, and the Hochstein Presberg Ensembles Concert. Each choir has its own Winter Holiday and Springtime Concert, and students in the chorus can audition for solo parts in the repertoire. The choirs sing in several different languages and in a wide variety of musical styles.
For more information regarding these choirs and other music courses, call the Hochstein Music School at 454-4596.
